TYPES OF BIOSECURITY:ANIMAL PRODUCTION:ANIMAL HEALTH

Biosecurity is a series of measures to protect against the entry and spread of pests and diseases in the farm.
Biosecurity plans by ZULINKX AGRO & VET. SERVICES are economically viable and at the same time promote animal health and animal welfare.

Types of biosecurity:
1. Structural Biosecurity
Structural biosecurity involves facilities put in place to limit movement into and within the farm premises.

Structural Biosecurity can be done;
• Fencing the farm house.
• Planting of entrance and exit Gates.
• Providing Car/foot dips, Showers, Washing hand basins etc.

Note;
The essence of such measures is to ensure that the entry of disease by formites, intermediate host, Mechanical carriers, Reservoirs, humans, vehicles is/are drastically reduced.

2. Environmental Biosecurity
Environmental biosecurity involves taking care of the immediate environment of the birds to ensure that the surrounding are free of pathogens, vectors, and conditions that can promote disease outbreak in the birds.

Environmental Biosecurity can be carried out by;
•Maintanining clean and well ventilated environment is key to the well-being of the animals
• Sorounding bushes should be taking care of.
• Regular cobwebing  should be carried out to ensure good ventilation
• Regular delousing and reducing insect menace e.g. Flies, soldier ants and termites
• Feeding and watering facilities should be cleaned regularly and disinfected.
• Ensure good litter management
• All farm equipment should be kept at the appropriate places
• Serve well balanced and biosecured feed and drugs
• Clean and biosecured water should be served
• Proper disposal of carcass
• Proper pen disinfection regime before and after every production process.
