DAY 2 TRAINING: FEEDS AND FEEDING MANAGEMENT IN PIG PRODUCTION

[8/1, 5:02 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Yesssssss.....
Good evening from Nigeria.

Welcome to day 2 & last day for this training
[8/1, 5:03 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Not wasting time, let's start👇🏼
[8/1, 5:05 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Today we look at feeding of *piglets-weaners/grower & finisher pigs*
[8/1, 5:09 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Like I said yesterday, I'm talking from a field farmer experience so, bear with me if I don't use all the scientific & academic terms🙏🏽
[8/1, 5:13 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Like we all know, a very heavy or thin pig was once a piglet & their growth depends on the genetics, environment & feeding.

Ideally, piglets are expected to be weaned when they're between 8-10wks but the industry has advanced,so we can now wean at 3-6wks
[8/1, 5:14 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Provided we have improved breeds
[8/1, 5:25 PM] +256 789 512932: If I can't find Shariviti in my country what's the substitute
[8/1, 5:34 PM] +256 789 512932: Maize + soya= which nutrients are in that mixture
[8/1, 5:43 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: To be able to wean heavy piglets at 4wks, do the following:
• Administer piglet enhancer orally(2.5ml) to the piglets on the day of Farrow. Repeat same procedure after 5days for 3wks.

•  Start Feeding very wet feed to the sow on the 10th day of Farrow till they're 18days, then start reducing the water in the feed gradually.

• Feed energy & protein rich feeds @equal percentages.
[8/1, 5:48 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: *Weaning ration*
Weaning is the most stressful period in a pig’s life, so alter the diet as gradually as possible because any sudden changes will reduce performance.

Intake in first few days after weaning is key. Offer the same diet as fed pre-weaning for approximately a week or until the animal is about 9-12kg, as this will keep growth checks
[8/1, 5:56 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: As the animal gets to the *grower phase*

A typical grower ration includes wheat, barley and high protein soya, and may also include a small amount of blood meal either home-milled or sourced from a compounder. As pigs grow, feed intake increases in line with their growth rates. Feed intakes are likely to be in the region of 1.2kg/day in the grower phase
[8/1, 6:03 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: *Feeding fisher pigs*
As the name, they're pigs for slaughter/market.
Higher amount of energy in the feed is required here.

For cost effectiveness, if one has the capacity should collect leftovers from eateries/restaurants.

To, serve the animals, mix the leftovers with mild antibiotics to reduce germ loads & prevent diseases.

Stop addition of any form of antibiotics 3wks to slaughter
[8/1, 6:05 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: It is expected that your pigs should be ready for slaughter at 6months.

Now hear the cheap crude techniques to have heavy pigs👇🏼
[8/1, 6:13 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Serve your pigs not meant for breeding the following:
• Cooked blood meal mixed with PKC & spent grain

• Leftovers from eateries
[8/1, 6:21 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: Feed ingredients for all pigs.
Casava/ casava peals fermented or dried. Don't feed raw pls.

Poultry droppings collected under rice bran spread on the floor

PKC, GNC, SBC/SBM
Spent grain(maize,wheat)
Rice bran/husk soya hull, etc
[8/1, 6:24 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: The aim of every farmer is to reduce cost of producing a single animal while maximizing out put within the shortest period of time so you can either go for commercial or self make
[8/1, 6:26 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: I advice strongly, if piglet enhancer is within ur reach, use for ur piglets as it enables you wean on time & reach market size around 5-6months
[8/1, 6:27 PM] Zulinkx Agro & Vet Services: ......... *THE END* .........

ADVANTAGES OF CAMBOROUGH PIG BREED OVER OTHER BREEDS

We supply all your needs, reach us for age specifications Recommended article; Best egg booster every poultry farmer needs Our expectant mothers  Camborough boar King boar (Watch: Our fast growing weaners  ) Camborough pigs are a product of a cross-breeding system known as criss-crossing- an alternated use of boars of two or more breeds on the female stock produced in a herd. This distributes good characteristics from many different breed lines involved and these are related to meat fat distribution (carcass quality), disease resistance, larger litter size and others. The animal is usually white in colour but, in rare cases, may show characteristics of particular breeds involved in the criss-crossing. (Mating going on in our farm: https://youtu.be/GkKGu0L6aQE ) The Camborough is bred to maximize the kilograms of weaned pigs per year with excellent feed efficiency. In addition, the Camborough can be bred typically three weeks earlier than other genetics, resul...

COMMON DISEASES OF RABBITS: PREVENTION AND CONTROL:RABBIT FARMING CHALLENGES

Rabbits like every other livestock, are affected by different kinds of diseases some of which affects the Farmer's maximum or expected yield. Some common diseases and problems seen in rabbits can be prevented by ensuring you have an understanding of what a healthy rabbit requires and the subtle signs that can tell you your rabbit is sick. Rabbits are domesticated mammals, but it should be remembered that they are very closely related to wild rabbits, and as such will hide signs of illness until they are very sick as this would make them “easy prey” in nature. We encourage you pay close attention to your rabbit, a correct diet, up to date vaccinations and regular health checks to ensure you pick up the early signs of problems, and prevent developing diseases. FEEDING BROILERS WITH PKC

Apply for ZULINKX 2020 livestock farmers financial empowerment Palm kernel Palm kernel cake (PKC) Palm kernel fruit The high cost of commercial poultry feeds in some areas of the world has pushed most farmers to see Palm kernel cake(pkc) also known palm kernel meal(PKM)  meant to be used as an ingredient for formulating poultry ration to be used solely in feeding broilers and this is widespread among subsistence local farmers especially in Africa. Although palm kernel cake supplies both protein and energy, the proximate composition of palm kernel cake suggests that it can be classified as an energy source. Facts about the use of PKC in feeding broilers and other poultry birds •  Poultry are monogastric animals that have a simple stomach and they are unable to tolerate highly fibrous feed. • Due to its high fibre and shell content, low level of energy and key essential amino acids, and grittiness, the use of PKC in poultry rations is very limited....
