CRD(CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE) COMBINED WITH E.COLI IN POULTRY

Distorted eggshells due to E.coli
Difficulty in breathing

CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease) in poultry has some common symptoms such as wheezy breath and face swelling among others. This is a typical disease in poultry in transition seasons, occurs in all ages. Chickens between 3-6weeks of age and laying hens are more susceptible than other group ages.

Causes of CRD in Poultry
It's caused by Mycoplasma galliseptum bacteria. Mycoplasma mainly live in poultry body and causes the disease. When spread out of the body, they can only exist between 1-3days in feces, livestock instruments or 4-5days in mucus. Most disinfectants can kill Mycoplasma.

Recently, chicken chronic respiratory disease combined with E.coli  happens very common in poultry.
Swollen face due to CRD in chicken
SYMPTOMS OF CRD E.coli COMBINED
• High fever
• 30% mortality rate
• Distorted eggshells flecked with blood streaks in layers.
This disease can lead to low treatment results if farmers do not take the right special medication.

Oral and nasal discharge with swollen infraorbital sinuses
Lesions:.
• Hemorrhagic inflammation in the upper respiratory tract
• Thick and opaque light yellow air sack
• Perihepatitis
• Pneumonia

Transmission
It is transmitted through respiratory tract, directly between diseased and healthy but susceptible animal via contaminated water, feed, livestock equipment or organisms in the air.
It can also be transmitted through eggs if breeders are infected. It can easily become outbreak when whether changes especially when humidity in air is higher or because of live virus vaccination, beak-cut, concurrent infections or when cages are changed.

Symptoms
Major clinical signs include:
1. Face swelling
2. Head-shaken
3. Eye and nasal discharge
4. Sneezing
5. Difficulty in breathing
6. Closed eyes
7. Low hatched rate and weak chicks.

Prevention
• Breeders or Chicks should be sourced from CRD free farms or hatchery
• Housing must be well ventilated, periodic disinfection of the incubator
• Fully supply various kinds of vitamins and electrolytes like SHARIGROW to  improve immunity.

Treatment
1. Use antibiotics like Tetracycline, Macrolide or Quinolone.
2. Farmers can use Tylodox-plus or Tilmicousin when the whether changes. Dose: 1ml/12.5kg feed or 0.3ml/liter of water for 3consecutive days.
